What is the Alkaline Diet?

Alkaline dietIt’s not a secret that the foods we eat have either acidic or alkaline nature. Depending on the food alkaline or acidic nature, its effect on our body is completely different. The increased acidity level causes the health problems, while the alkaline environment provides healthy functioning of the body. According to this principle the famous alkaline diet is created.

The main recommendations

The alkaline diet lasts for 3 to 4 weeks – during this time you can cleanse the body of acid waste and normalize its functions. Do not interrupt the diet, if during the first few days you feel a little bit worse, but not to a critical extent – in such case you should immediately see the doctor. However, a slight indisposition is understandable – it indicates the beginning of the cleaning process.

Dietary plan

The dietary plan includes the foods with alkaline reaction. To this group we can safely classify almost any plant food. The basic list is the following:

– Ripe bananas, avocados, berries, garlic, celery, carrots, currants, and dates.
All these foods have a level of pH 8.0. They affect the acidic foods and raise their pH to near alkaline level. In addition, they are beneficial to the body, normalizing the blood pressure.

– Sweet apples, apricots, and alfalfa sprouts.
They also have the pH around 8.0. These products contain a lot of useful enzymes and normalize the hormonal level.

– Sweet grapes, passion fruit, sweet pears, pineapples, plums, raisins, and vegetable juices.
Their pH reaches 8.5. Products in this group are rich with antioxidants. All of them have a positive effect on the composition of the blood and detoxify the body perfectly.

– Kiwi, chicory, and fruit juices.
This group is full of flavonoids – powerful antioxidants. Their level of pH is 8.5.

– Watercress, asparagus, and seaweed.
All these products are unique and effective acid converters. Their pH is 8.5.

– Lime, melon, mango, papaya, and parsley.
This group of products perfectly cleans the liver, kidneys and intestines. The level of pH is 8.5.

– Cayenne pepper and cantaloupe.
Products in this group are fighting against the free radicals, clean the intestines good and have a beneficial effect on the endocrine system. Their level of pH is 8.5.

– The organic gelatin agar-agar.
Agar-agar is rich with fiber, calcium and iron. The level of pH is 8.5.

– Watermelon.
pH of the watermelon is 9.0. It perfectly cleanses the body and is a source of lycopene, beta-carotene and vitamin C.

– Lemon.
The pH of lemons is 9.0. This sour fruit really helps to create an alkaline environment. It has immunomodulatory properties and cleans the liver.

The acidifying foods are the following:

– Fish, meat, eggs, milk, butter, sugar, peas, grains, beans, nuts, alcohol, tea, and coffee

This group of products (foods) should be avoided whenever possible, using only the necessary minimum.

The basic rules of alkaline diet

Alkaline diet rulesThe dietary plan is divided as follows: alkaline products – 80%, acidic products – 20%.

This diet should be started only after initial preparation, during which you gradually reduce the intake of acidic foods and increase the proportion of alkaline foods.

You should eat slowly, chew every bite of the food (should be at least 30 chewing movements).

After 07:00 p.m. you should forget about any food.

After your meal you can drink the herbal tea, but between the meals – the alkaline ionized water or Kangen water.

It is advisable to eat the plant food raw or boiled.

For the morning meal you should include the yellow and green vegetables.

Dried fruits and vegetables can be a single meal or complement the other products.

You can include in your menu the fresh dried seeds and nuts, as well as peas and green beans.
For cooking and salad pouring you should use the natural vegetable oils with no chemical additives, like olive, sunflower, peanut, and soybean oil.

It is acceptable to use the natural sweetness: maple syrup, honey, brown sugar, unrefined molasses in a minimum amount.

Grains can be eaten no more then three times a week.

You can eat moderate amounts of meat products such as lean beef, veal, lamb, chicken, and turkey.

You can eat fish 2 to 3 times a week.

It is recommended to drink the alkaline ionized water or Kangen water, herbal teas and natural fruit juices between the meals.

Alkaline diet is much healthier for the body; it improves the digestion and has the beneficial effect on the immunity. Anyone who prefers a healthy lifestyle, should try it.
